Josie Urbina, MD

Josie Urbina, MD, is an Ob/gyn and Complex Family Planning specialist working at San Francisco General Hospital and a research fellow at ANSIRH. She is volunteer faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where she teaches and mentors URM medical students and residents. She also volunteers as a Gynecologist at Mission Neighborhood Health Center in San Francisco. Dr. Urbina attended medical school at la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and completed her Ob/gyn residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She recently completed her fellowship in Complex Family Planning, with a focus on advanced training in abortion care and complex contraception. She is finishing up a Master’s in Clinical Research at UCSF. While she is at ANSIRH, she will be continuing her research on Latinx experiences with abortion, contraceptive coercion and racism in healthcare. She will also be collaborating with Corinne Rocca and Isabel Muñoz on their research project “Novel Measurement of Childbearing Desires to Advance Reproductive Autonomy”.
