College Access to Medication Abortion
College Access to Medication Abortion
Our research shows that many students face challenges in getting abortion care. They may not have access to cars, cannot afford to pay out-of-pocket for abortions, or cannot get to a clinic without having to miss classes or work. This makes student health centers an important place to provide abortion care. ANSIRH studies also show that with the right training and resources, student health centers can provide medication abortion and make it easier for people on campus to get care. In 2019, California was the first state to pass a law requiring that the state’s public universities offer students on-campus access to medication abortions.
