  • Monica Getahun, MPH, PMP

    East Africa Program Director

    Monica Getahun serves as the East Africa Program Director for a range of research projects under Carol Camlin and collaborates with other UCSF investigators in Kenya and Uganda. Ms. Getahun is a first generation immigrant from Ethiopia, and brings over thirteen years in applied research and evaluation. She’s worked in evaluation and strategic planning initiatives with foundations, governments, consultancies and non-profits, both in the US and abroad, and is a former RWJF and CDC Evaluation Fellow. She oversees research operations and strategy, and serves as technical advisor for social and behavioral sciences. Her particular areas of interest include culturally responsive research and evaluation approaches, diversity equity, and inclusion (DEI) in research including workforce development and mentorship. Ms Getahun received her MPH from Thomas Jefferson University, and her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Emory University.
