Carol Camlin, PhD, MPH

Professor in Residence

Carol Camlin, PhD, MPH, is Professor in Residence in the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, and in the Department of Medicine, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, and is affiliated with the UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Her research program crosses the disciplines of population studies and behavioral sciences, and has focused on the study of gender, human mobility, and HIV prevention and care outcomes. She is Principal Investigator of a five-year intervention study that uses a social network approach to improve the HIV prevention and care cascades among highly mobile fishermen in Kenya. She also co-leads a Behavioral and Social Science Research training center at Makarere University in Uganda. She contributes expertise in applying qualitative and mixed methods approaches and behavioral and social theory to HIV intervention and implementation studies as lead qualitative investigator of several cluster randomized controlled trials in health systems and communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
