Abortion portrayal

Soundtrack (television)

During a short break up with her boyfriend Sam, Eleanor realizes she’s pregnant and tells her mother who supports whatever she decides. Off-camera, Eleanor has an abortion but does not tell Sam. After being injured in a car accident, Eleanor’s parents are asked about her medical history and her mother tells the doctor that Eleanor had an abortion the week prior. Eleanor’s father, who didn’t know she was pregnant, tells Sam. While recovering from surgery, Sam tells Eleanor that he knew about her abortion and she explains that she needed to have it to figure out what’s next in her life and career. The two later marry and have a son, and Eleanor dies when her son is five-years-old.
