Shanteé, a character with Down Syndrome, finds out she's pregnant after she, her aunt Kaye, and others are taken to the hospital after a car crash. Kaye tries to convince her not to have an abortion, saying that both sides of the abortion debate manipulate Black people, and that since she's Shanteé's legal guardian, she makes the medical decisions. Other doctors share with Shanteé they they've consulted lawyers in the hospital and can find a way for her to have an abortion, but Shanteé says she's worried about what Kaye will think, and if she'll still be able to live with her after the abortion. One of the doctors shares that she had an abortion when she was young. Shanteé asks Kaye if she'll still love her, and Kaye says yes. She has an abortion.
