Abortion portrayal

Mrs. America (television)

Mrs. America

A woman sees Gloria Steinem walking down the street, and asks her to autograph her copy of the "We've Had Abortions" spread in the first issue of Ms. Magazine. The woman discloses to Gloria that she had an abortion, saying only her husband knows about it, and money was tight and they already had children. The last scene of the episode is a flashback to a younger Gloria sitting in a doctor's home in England, waiting to have an abortion. He asks her to promise him two things: that she won't share his name, and that she'll do what she wants to do with her life.
