Angie Rossini is pregnant after a a one-night stand with musician Rocky (Steve McQueen), who doesn't remember her. She asks him for the name of a doctor who will perform an abortion. Angie's older brothers try to pressure her into marrying an irritating restaurateur, Anthony, but she resists. Rocky and Angie fundraise enough money for the abortion, but when they meet the abortion provider, they discover she's a woman with dirty tools in a rundown apartment. Rocky refuses to let Angie have the abortion, fearing for her safety. She is almost hysterical as he escorts her out of the apartment. Eventually, Rocky wins her over and they get married.
