After discovering that she's pregnant, Rose decides to travel to New York City to get an abortion, since a friend shares with her that it'll be easier for her to access one there than in her home state of Louisiana. Rose's mother Margaret wants her to carry the pregnancy to term, and threatens to cut her off from the family's wealth if she goes forward with the abortion. Despite that threat, Margaret later shares that although she doesn't agree with Rose's decision, she'll support her daughter.
