Dr. Andy Brown confronts important moral and professional issues when Kate, a pregnant 18-year-old, and her father Joe come to him for guidance. Dr. Brown asks Kate to wait a few days to make sure she's making the right decision, and Joe confronts him for delaying the procedure. Dr. Brown admits that he's stalling. Another doctor, Dr. Abbot, admits that he's been performing abortions in town for years even though he's opposed to abortion, because he promised his father he'd never turn away a woman in need. Dr. Abbot agrees to perform Kate's abortion. After the abortion, Dr. Abbot confesses his sins to a priest.
