Dr. Neela Rosgotra treats a religious teenage girl who turns out to be pregnant after a sexual assault, while disagreeing with Dr. Luka Kovac on how to best counsel the patient. Ultimately, Dr. Kovac inserts laminaria into the girl's cervix with the intention of causing a miscarriage without doing an "abortion." He describes this as "a medical way of giving God a chance to reconsider."
Meanwhile, Dr. Kovac's girlfriend, Abby Lockhart, is trying to decide whether or not to continue her unplanned pregnancy. The two stories are portrayed in parallel.
