Becky, Empire Records’ Head of A&R, decides to get an abortion. She shares with Jamal that she doesn't plan to tell J Poppa, the man who got her pregnant, about the pregnancy or the abortion. Jamal questions whether she'll still be able to work with J Poppa with this "secret" between them, and Becky tells Jamal that she's not keeping a secret, she's keeping this private. Later, in a business meeting with J Poppa, Becky blurts out that she's pregnant. He says that they could "figure this out," and when she says she's terminating the pregnancy, he gets angry and walks away from the conversation. Jamal accompanies Becky to the clinic, and J Poppa shows up, saying that he prayed about the decision, and though he doesn't support abortion, he loves her and wants to be there for her. Becky is called back into the clinic and, we assume, has the abortion.
