In a flashback, family matriarch Rachel Argyll goes to find her adopted daughter, Hester, who recently moved out of the house and got married. Rachel drugs Hester to get her back to the house; while at the hospital, the doctor informs Rachel that Hester is pregnant. Rachel orders an abortion without notifying or gaining consent from Hester.
