Pregnancy Intention
Pregnancy Intention
Women have a range of feelings and desires about a potential pregnancy and childbearing. Some women may clearly want or not want a pregnancy, but many are uncertain, have mixed feelings, or do not have conscious preferences. Current research around pregnancy intentions in the U.S. and globally almost always ignores these nuances, which can lead to inaccurate conclusions. ANSIRH research is using new and more informative instruments, such as the DAP Scale, to measure women’s preferences around pregnancy and to examine the effects of undesired or less desired pregnancy on women’s health and wellbeing.
