2 Events

Abortion Researcher Incubator

From June 6th through 8th, ANSIRH held its first ever Abortion Researcher Incubator, a nearly week-long training of 13 scholars from around the country who are interested in studying or expanding their study of abortion. The training was organized by ANSIRH’s Katrina Kimport, Carole Joffe, Ushma Upadhyay and Nancy Berglas.

Medication Abortion Seminar

On June 8th, as part of ANSIRH’s 15th anniversary celebration, we hosted a seminar on medication abortion.

The event began with Carole Joffe presenting a historical overview of medication abortion and ANSIRH’s commitment to research on the method. Ushma Upadhyay discussed current state-level restrictions and Monica McLemore presented options for expanding provision of medication abortion to nurses and advanced practice clinicians. Corinne Rocca talked about her study of medication abortion provision in Nepal and Diane Tober, from the UCSF Institute for Health and Aging, presented on telemedicine and her work around California’s SB 320, a bill that would allow provision of medication abortion on college campuses.

Dan Grossman closed the event by discussing future directions of medication abortion, including the potential for making medication abortion available over the counter.
