Project Director

ANSIRH seeks a Project Director to provide overall operational management of a diverse portfolio of research activities including a clinical trial as well as social science research studies addressing complex reproductive health issues.The Project Director will work closely with Ushma Upadhyay, PhD. MPH, Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences to help manage several studies including a clinical trial testing the efficacy and safety of a distribution method for medication abortion through telemedicine.

The position requires expert and efficient integration of multiple complex programmatic activities, applying a sophisticated medical knowledge base, expertise in information and communication technologies, substantial leadership skills, and effective collaboration with a variety of people and organizations [clinicians, investigators, clinical staff, administration, Internal Review Board (IRB), human resources, contracts and grants, funders, health centers, Food & Drug Administration (FDA)].

This position will be remote until at least June 30, 2021 and potentially beyond based on the pandemic. Thereafter, it will be based in the ANSIRH research office in Oakland, California.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, life sciences, biology, nursing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five+ years of relevant research experience including two+ years of clinical research management experience, (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical device, biomedical, biotechnology), preferably related to managing clinical trials
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical research practices, protocols, procedures and philosophy, FDA regulations and ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements in methodology
  • Advanced expertise and comfort using technology and database platforms
  • Budget management experience and demonstrated skills in preparing and presenting financial reports and projections
  • Demonstrated ability to develop recruitment strategies in complex environments and differing patient pools, independently identifying recruitment leads, implementing new strategies, and continually adjusting strategies to meet current recruitment goals
  • Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate the importance and urgency of problems; excellent demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership with other team members. Works well with others to achieve common goals
  • Commitment to apply perspectives of communities of color to health issues. Intersectional framework that includes, socioeconomic, and racial / ethnic justice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, biology, nursing or related field
  • Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP)
  • Experience with telehealth platforms
  • Experience working in reproductive health or other health initiatives

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000.
