In an effort to inform the conversations of state and national experts working to advance the scopes of practice for nurse practitioners and certified nurse-midwives to include the full range of unintended pregnancy care, ANSIRH's Primary Care Initiative completed a series of three briefing papers:
- The role of abortion care education and training in advancing scope of practice for certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants;
- Key legal barriers for provision of abortion by advanced practice clinicians; and
- Why clinician scope of practice matters for reproductive health.
These papers are intended to provide a brief introduction to the myriad legal, clinical and educational issues that affect and frame the provision of abortion by certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
