Project Coordinator, Turnaway Study

Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) received foundation funding to conduct a large national panel study on the effect of abortion on women’s lives. The Turnaway Study seeks a project coordinator to assist in the management and implementation of this project.

The project coordinator will work with a diverse and dynamic team of researchers and project staff in the implementation of the project and will provide overall coordination of all project-related activities. Specifically, the incumbent will communicate with all research sites on a regular basis, ensuring that they adhere to study guidelines and procedures and facilitating their ability to actively recruit participants, coordinate reimbursements, plan meetings and events, organize travel for study members, prepare packets and mailings, create tools for data organization and conduct data entry, coordinate study purchases, perform research as necessary, and assist in the organization of study research materials. In addition, the project coordinator acts as a back-up recruiter and interviewer as needed, writes and implements research documents for other studies and acts as a research assistant for other faculty members at ANSIRH. 

The ideal candidate must have well-developed skills in time management, task prioritization, independent research, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills as well as experience in reproductive health and preferably research as well. As a recruiter and interviewer, the incumbent will be responsible for describing the study protocol to participants by telephone, gaining participant information and informed consent, carrying out semiannual telephone interviews, maintaining records of call attempts and successes, protecting confidential information and responding to training and quality improvement measures. Interviews will include sensitive topics such as abortion, drug use, pregnancy intentions and domestic violence.

Required qualifications: BA/BS with a major in a related field and one year of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working in reproductive health or related field; experience with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint; excellent organization, coordination and communications skills; must be able to sit in front of a computer monitor and enter information for long periods of time; demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.

Preferred qualifications: BA/BS in women’s studies, or health-related field; bilingual in Spanish and English; experience with public health research and conducting literature reviews.
